Carol Wood is founder of Emerge Media Group and, as a consultant, leads COLab’s business innovation work. Carol’s passion to protect democracy and press freedom drives her work helping all types of media companies develop sustainable business practices, strategy, growth and sound operations. Carol is aligned with COLab and the Colorado Press Association in an intense project to strengthen the business practices and development of Colorado news organizations. Carol was a founding partner of BizWest Media where she developed first-hand understanding of how to build a successful multi-office, multi-state media company. While there, she helped foster the still-thriving organization through the business and economic challenges of a morphing media industry. Most recently, Carol spent three years with The Colorado Sun in operations and business development. Carol graduated from University of Colorado-Boulder and has worked at newspapers in Denver, Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette and Boulder.
