Since 2018, Colorado Media Project has supported the #newsCOneeds matching challenge as a statewide campaign to help Colorado newsrooms spotlight the positive impacts they are making in their communities, and to build trust in and support for local public-service journalism.
Please join us on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. to lear more about the 2023 #newsCOneeds grant opportunity.
This year’s #newsCOneeds program features an expanded fundraising capacity building and training workshop, which begins late July, 2023. Grant recipients commit to participate in both the 2023 #newsCOneeds fundraising workshops during the summer and fall of 2023 and the #newsCOneeds matching campaign during December 2023. These workshops will include hands-on coaching from news industry and fundraising experts with the Colorado News Collaborative, Local Media Association, and Make Philanthropy Work, and access to a peer-learning cohort of newsrooms with similar fundraising experience and capacity.
The application opens Friday, June 23, 2023. The applicant information session is Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (via Zoom). The application deadline is Monday, July 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. MT.
