It’s election season 2022. Here are key dates and reminders to know for voting in Colorado this year.
Colorado News Collaborative
All active registered voters in Colorado automatically get a mail ballot. Your county will start mailing it out to you between Oct. 17 and Oct. 21.
You can either mail back that completed ballot or submit it in a drop box or polling center. Or you can vote in person between Oct. 24 and Nov. 8, which is Election Day.
Don’t forget: For your ballot to be counted, your county clerk’s office has to receive your mail ballot by 7 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 8). So if you’re mailing it, include postage and send it well ahead of time.
Also don’t forget to sign your ballot envelope or it won’t get counted.
Like your online shopping orders, you can track your mail ballot’s movement through the election process via the free service BallotTrax. It sends you text or email alerts as it gets processed.
If you’re voting in person, remember to bring your ID.
Who can vote? You must be 18 or older, a U.S. citizen and a Colorado resident for at least 22 days before the election.
To check your voter registration status, the Colorado Secretary of State has a lookup page online where you can see your voter status and party affiliation.
Not registered to vote? You can sign up online or register at a polling center between Oct. 24 and Election Day on Nov. 8.
