Advanced Data Journalism: Powerful Data Reporting and Mapping Tools

The Knight Center just opened registration for “Advanced data journalism: Powerful data reporting and mapping tools,” a new online course taught by John Keefe, data and mapping expert of The New York Times. He will help improve and elevate your data reporting and mapping skills!

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the constant need to update and map data as part of your routine tasks, Keefe will teach you ways to simplify and expedite these processes. And much more. For example, he will guide you through the process of setting up and using online tools like Github Actions and Amazon Web Services, which will help keep your maps automatically up to date.

This four-week BOC (Big Online Course), which has a limited number of participants and costs $95 USD, will run from Aug. 21 to Sept. 17, 2023. The course fee includes full access to the course, live office hours with Keefe, and a certificate of completion for those who meet the course requirements.

Knight’s BOCs offer a flexible and self-paced learning experience. You can log in to the course at your convenience and complete activities throughout the week at your own pace, during the course period of four weeks
