Black Voices Colorado Mixer & Meetup

▪︎ WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20 ▪︎ COCKTAILS & CONVERSATION FROM 6:30 TO 8:00 P.M. ▪︎

Please join the Denver Press Club, COLab, Denver 9News, The Denver Post, Colorado Public Radio and others to discuss initiatives that focus on Black Coloradans.

2020 was a year of racial reckoning that has altered the narrative around Black communities nationally and globally.

In the aftermath of the police killing of George Floyd and the uprisings that lifted into greater public consciousness other similar events, news media organizations in Colorado have set in motion initiatives seeking better representation, more inclusion and true equity for Black and other communities of color.

We recognize that lasting impact will not be possible unless we work together to turn conversations into action.

For this reason, a group of Colorado news outlets have come together to share their vision for the future and, more importantly, listen to Black community leaders, journalists and non-journalists alike, about what it will take to launch projects and implement solutions for lasting impact.

Joining us will be Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler, founder of and chief catalyst at The Equity Project; Dr. Ryan E. Ross, Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado’s chief executive officer; Halim Ali, executive director and founder of From the Heart Enterprises; and Ammiee Brown, Black Voices Colorado working group ambassador and former AmeriCorps VISTA.

Not only will you have the chance to spend some time at the nation’s oldest press club (that’s right!) and try some of its signature cocktails, we’ll plan to spark conversations for an engaging and fun evening.

Your ideas and presence are important. We need your input and we’d like for you to be a part of this event.

Date: Wednesday, October 20
Cocktails and Conversation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Space for attending this event is limited.
