How the 2023 Data Journalism Fellowship Can Bolster Your Toolkit — and How to Apply

Do you want to improve your data reporting skills?

USC Annenberg’s Data Fellowship offers reporters an opportunity to transform their reporting by teaching them how to “interview the data” as if it were a human source. The Fellowship offers intensive training in Excel, R-Studio and data visualization programs to help reporters uncover health stories hiding in plain sight.

In this upcoming webinar on June 15, 2023, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. MT, hear from one of the Center’s data mentors, Star Tribune Data Editor MaryJo Webster, about what it takes to have a successful application for the Data Fellowship program. The webinar will also feature 2022 Data Fellow Stephanie Kuzydym, sports enterprise reporter at The Louisville Courier Journal and 2021 Data Fellow Kyeland Jackson, a metro reporter for The Star Tribune.

Reporters will learn more about what they’ll get from this fellowship and the webinar will provide insight into how to craft the application and project pitch.
