Info Session: Apply for ProPublica’s Local Reporting Network

Applications are now open for five spots in ProPublica’s Local Reporting Network. Don’t miss this opportunity to join a group of local journalists who are devoted to accountability and interested in working on investigative stories that are important to their communities.

If selected by ProPublica, a reporter and their news organization will spend a year working on deep-dive projects with financial support and editorial guidance from ProPublica. Journalists from all local and regional newsrooms are eligible to apply. Freelancers are also welcome to apply, but must submit a joint application with an eligible news organization willing to publish their work.

ProPublica’s work with new partners will begin work on November 1, 2022 and continue for one year. ProPublica will pay the salary (up to $75,000), plus an allowance for benefits, for each full-time reporter. Local reporters work from and report to their home newsrooms, while receiving extensive support and guidance for their work from ProPublica. The work will be published or broadcast by your newsroom and simultaneously by ProPublica.

Want to hear more? ProPublica will be holding a Q and A webinar about this opportunity on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 1 p.m. Mountain time. Please sign up to receive an email invitation to join in over Zoom.

Note that applications for the Local Reporting Network are due Aug. 22, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. Here are more details for those interested in applying, including what ProPublica looks for in projects and FAQs about proposals and the Local Reporting Network.
