Providing security to journalists

Threats to journalists’ safety are on the rise, and media companies are hiring private security contractors to help protect them. Some of this security has been armed and there have been violent confrontations and at least one recent shooting. These incidents have led to debate about how to safely and effectively protect journalists without creating liability or undue distractions.

In this webinar, four experienced panelists will share their views on the legal and practical issues that arise when providing enhanced security for journalists, and how media companies can manage their liability in doing so. In the final portion of the program, all attendees will be invited into the “room” for a roundtable discussion to ask questions and share their own insights.
