Collaborate With Open Campus on an Enterprise Story

Open Campus, a nonprofit newsroom that covers higher education in partnership with local newsrooms around the country, is offering reporting grants for newsrooms interested in working with them on a trial basis.

Newsrooms are asked to pitch them on ambitious, one-time higher ed stories that center their local audience and that they’d like to tell with Open Campus’ support.

Newsrooms that are selected get $10,000 to defray reporting costs as well as their higher ed sector expertise, data analysis or additional reporting help, as needed, and high-level editing support.

Applications for the first round of grants are due January 15 and additional application opportunities will come throughout 2024.

If Open Campus chooses your project, they’ll work with you to finesse the idea and help you plan your reporting. From there, Open Campus’ level of involvement will depend on what your newsroom needs. They will also get select stories placed in national news outlets.

To be considered for the first round of awards, fill out this short form by January 15, 2024.
